West Kootenay Beauty

Day 4
By Roxanne Johnson, Nelson, BC

This morning we had an amazing breakfast in Castlegar served by the Auxiliary ladies from the Legion, those were the best muffins I have ever tasted. Then we rolled out of Castlegar, escorted by the Castlegar Fire Department and we rode the rest of the way to the Crescent Valley Fire Department where they spoiled us with delicious coffee and treats. The sun was shining and it felt amazing to have some warm rays on us. All fueled up we headed to Nelson where we were met by Nelson IRSU and West Kootenay Traffic units who were kind enough to escort us through the city of Nelson to the Nelson RCMP detachment where we were treated to a delicious lunch provided by Save-on Foods and Corporal Oelke. There we were met by some of the Nelson Maple Leafs and Greg St. George and John Dooley for a cheque presentation of $1500 from bottle donations to the Nelson Maple Leafs. We also met with an amazingly strong and brave little girl named Annabelle who provided us with the courage to face the remaining 6 days of riding. When we heard her story it makes all our aches and pains seem irrelevant. Once our bellies were full, we headed out to Balfour Ferry which was an amazing ride with beautiful views of the lake. The support & cheers we received along the way were inspiring. We made our way back into Nelson for a delicious dinner provided by the Adventure Hotel & now back to the Prestige Resort for some recovery, rest and relaxation before our trek from Crawford Bay to Creston. Thank you Castlegar, Crescent Valley and Nelson for a great day! Looking forward to Creston tomorrow.
